Hi,
I run a `92 model - effectively the same as the `91, but with a different paint job. Working on the bike is reasonably straightforward and I find that the "standard" Haynes workshop manual is sufficient for almost all jobs likely to be needed. All Gixer 11`s are ballistic bikes and model preference is very much down to an individuals choice - I prefer the later oil-cooled models for looks and performance (hence my choice of the Blue tiger-stripe `92 model). Not suprisingly, they eat rear tyres, and be prepared for regular fork seal changes. The bikes are extremely heavy but I`ve never found that a hinderence. Handling can be a challenge, but good tyre choice can alleviate any severe problems - I run the excellent Bridgestone BT020`S.
The bike is a true Superbike so don`t hesitate in buying the right one - but ensure its 100% standard with service history or you could be landing yourself with problems - so many of them have been badly "tweaked" for the drag strip or track......best of luck, you will not regret buying one, plus the early 90`s "oilers" are starting to increase in value so there is an investment potential!!
Regards,
Dave.
