Back firing, Quiting at times

If I sit at a red light or intersection for a bit my bike tends to want to quit. I have to give it gas to stay running. When I then start to go the bike tends to back fire until I crack it open, sometimes quitting right when I am riding. Any ideas. The carbs are set to what they should be at, and were drained this spring.
