I assume you have gotten an answer from somewhere in the past 3+ years but, if not, all you do is lift it straight up. DO NOT twist at all. But do so carefully as there are wires for the gas gauge attached to it. They travel down through a tube in the tank and emerge from the bottom on the left side. There’s a plastic coupler at the end of those wires.
