I bought my ´95 Sprint with 11K after checking with local dealers on the engine, reliablity, etc. They said its a great bike and engine. I read last month in Motorcyclist mag of a guy with 89K miles on his and everything still runs great. Mine has 17K now and I just switched from synthetic blended oil to Mobile 1 full synthetic oil. The difference was major in terms of engine noise and performance. The factory calls for synthetic blend oil. After talking to a bunch of oil folks(who said the bike shops are full of balogna for saying only use motorcycle synthetic)I switched to high performance Mobile 1 0-40W oil. The bike runs so much quieter and has some real increase in power. I had a friend with a Honda Goldwing that has 160K on it just running Mobile 1, with no top or bottom end work done. My Triumph is so fast now, and smooth with new Metzler tires, that it is a real joy to ride. I´m riding it 400 miles this weekend down to Nashville for the Bike Jubilee/Rally. I´ve got saddlebags and a rear rack so it is cruising time. I can´t tell you how many people pull up next to me just to check the bike out. I also have the higher touring windscreen on it instead of the little low-profile one. It isn´t the fastest bike on the road, but rated at 12.5 seconds in the quarter mile /108mph means it will eat most Harleys for breakfast. And it is so much more reliable and smooth. What a fun bike. PS, my last Triumph was a brand new 650cc Bonneville I bought in 1972. Should have kept that bike. It had the European touring tank cause I bought it new in Naples Italy while in the Navy there. Hope this answers some of your questions. |
