This was the bike that made a motorcycle enthusiast out of me. My only transport for 2 or 3 years. It lived outdoors and soon became rather shabby. It wasn´t reliable: holed 2 pistons, sheared a clutch key, blew rocker box gaskets, ate clutch cables. It was surprisingly smooth for a traditional British, 360 deg twin and revved freely. It had a great sound through its Dunstall 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust and felt surprisingly sporty with its narrow reversed, ace bars. A friend had an almost identical (same year I think) T140V, but I preferred my 650. A series of crashes added to a multitude of characterful scars (on the bike) until the day it decided it had had enough of me; threw me in a ditch and landed on top of me. Having had my brush with death, lacking the money and will power to repair it I let it go. It was fun while it lasted, but there are far better bikes. |
