I would have to say you might be too tall for this bike. You would probably fit better on a 929, 954, but those bikes are very serious and not for the beginner. I am 6´ tall and my 95´ 600CBR fits me very well. My feet are flat on the ground when I am waiting at a light. For you it might be like riding a kids bicycle. If you have never ridden before this is not the best bike to start out on but if you are carfule and take your time learing. Remember that this bike was designed for track racing and the riders are like horse jockeys, short and light. I grew up riding street bikes and dirt bikes, but it has taken me weeks to get used to this type of riding. Here are the things I have learned in the last 6 weeks. The bike always wants to go fast and in a straight line, it is not a good bike to cruse around on. The engine runs best at 6000 to 8000RPM. Slow riding causes the engine to heat up, which is normal but the hot air around your legs can be very uncomfortable. When you are going fast and hit a curve you really have to lean hard or you will continue going straight. I also find that the bike is not good for longer rides. My hands and wrists get very fatigued after an hour or two of riding especially at lower speeds. At high speeds the air pulls your weight back off the bars and is more comfortable going down the freeway at 90MPH than the back streets at 40MPH. But don´t just follow my opinion, I might be way off on my assessment. I am still learning. Despite the downs I have stated, I still love riding the bike and I ride it almost every day sence I got it. Still, if I had to do it over again I might have chosen the Honda 919 (A sportbike but more comfortable easy to go fast or slow) or the Kawasaki ZRX1200R (Faster more powerful than the CBR600 more comfortable easy to go fast or slow, but not as stylish) |
