you have a couple of options. you can either buy a different set of handle bars or i think you can get a triple tree extension block but it will only extend it 3-4 inches.
the belt works the same way the old chain worked. it is adjsted at the rear axle the same way the chain did. get down there and look at it you´ll see. now the primary chain inside the small inspection cover does need some attention and should be checked periodically for slack. i just bought mine(´04) this fall. it had 7500 miles but was well taken care of. hope this helps
