Origin of name "Deuce?

I just bought my first motorcycle, having ridden quite a bit in my past (other people´s). I choose the Deuce because I simply fell in love with its looks. It´s an `05, Chopper Blue...gorgeous! However, I can´t find anyone (dealers or enthusiasts) that can tell me where the name "Deuce" originated. Any answers? Thanx in advance! Bill
