I´m a newbie here, an old man who started riding in 1966. I´ve been riding a ´98 XLH1200 Sportster for about 10 years. I bought a 2002 FXSTDI in May of this year. I bought it from the second owner. He claimed that the original owner bought it new with a 1550 kit installed. How do I begin to figure out what I´ve got? Displacement, cams, exhaust, map... Is there any possibility that the dealer of MoCo could tell me anything, based on the VIN? So far, I love this bike. It has a front-end clunk that needs attention, needs a tool kit and saddle bags, and some ´passing lights.´ And I´d really like to reposition the brake pedal! The only change I´ve made so far is replacing the mirrors with some that are long enough to let me see something other than my shoulders. After four months, it´s still kind of a handful to maneuver at low speed, but we´re making progress together. Help me figure out what I bought! Paul |
