I´m just buying one myself (1972 XLH). It´s in good enough shape to restore; almost everything is original and it´s been in storage for about 20 years. Shifting is one-down and three-up which will take you through all four gears. The bike has the foot brake on the left and the shifter on the right, which can be confusing and dangerous in an emergency. They have laws these days about that, but in 1972 they didn´t. Good luck with the bike! Greg |
