I bought a ´69 H1 500 in 1972 for $600. I was 19 and lived in a small southern town of 3000. It was the fastest thing in town and came with an invoice from a Chicago cycle shop for $650 in extras. In 1973 I bought a blue H2 Mach IV for $900. It had a little over 1K miles on it and the guy was afraid of it. Again I had the fastest thing in town until a friend bought a Z-1 900. We would roll on around 30 or 40 and stay side by side until around 100, then the big Z-1 would pull away. I switched to dirt riding, got married and sold my bikes. After thirty years of marriage I am looking for a used roadbike above 500 cc to tool around on. Walked into a dealer the other day and realized they don´t make a thing I´d throw my leg over. By the way, the H2´s handled well for me. I put rounded profile Dunlops on and frequently ran 100+ with no handling problems. Gas mileage wasn´t great, but the 4.5? gallon tank was. My best trip was 457 miles to Virginia from Mississippi. She had a smooth spot around 75-80. Not tiring at all. Wish I still owned her.
