Coolest Bike On The Planet indeed! Fell in love with them as a teenager, but was short on cash and had to settle for a 78 FXS. Was looking for an FXRT 2 bikes ago and became impatient, so I bought an FLHTCU. All the accutrements of the FXRT, but a bit cumbersome, you really have to manhandle the FL´s. I´m riding a Buell M2 now, but now looking for a clean and correct FXRT. There are a few out there still that the poseurs and morons haven´t hacked up yet.

I agree on forming a club for those interested in and dedicated to the preservation of these bikes. The easiest way is to put together a web domain like FXRT.com and have a message board connected with the site. This will allow a core group of enthusiast to come together and share info, ideas, parts, and locations of FXRT/D´s that are for sale, so that another %&#!¤ doesn´t buy one and strip the bags and fairing!!! Makes me shudder to think of it.
