Hello Ed, I too bought a ´83 FXRS ( Indigo Blue & Silver ) new in June of ´83. It was my first Harley. For some stupid reason I sold it to a long time friend and ended up with his Norton Commando Combat. It hadn´t run in years so, I being a motorcycle mechanic made it run and rode it for quite a time. It´s original owner missed his first bike and literally begged it back from me. I sold it back and moved on to something (?) else. Ten years passed and lots of different models of HD´s passed thru my garage and I too started missing my first Harley. I contacted the friend that I had sold it to and found out that it had been in storage and not run in 9 years. I asked to buy it back but my friend said no but would like me to service it and bring it back to life. I was delighted. I serviced it, rode it, rode it,rode it called the guy up and begged him again to sell it back. He declined. Four years passed and I got a phone call offering to sell the bike back to me. I didn´t have the money...:( I contacted another mutal friend of ours and he bought the bike. Its been 4 years since the bike passed hands and a total restoration. Its owner had expressed interest in finding and buying a newer Evo powered HD. Just so happened that I had horse traded for a ´93 Springer still wanting my old first Harley FXRS back I offered it for trade. BINGO, he bit, gave me a hefty boot check and my first love back. The bike is now red and grey custom painted with a 2003 HD Deuce wide glide front end sporting chrome wire spoke wheels 16 and 21. A love affair rekindled!
