I used to be a motorcycle courier in Austin, Texas using a CB175. Spent 8 hours a day on the machine, and frequently had to hop on I-35 to go cross town. I could easily accelerate to the requisite 65-70 mph to avoid becoming pickup truck fodder in the length of the notoriously short Texas access roads. I am still amazed when I read 600cc and even 750cc bikes being touted as "entry level" bikes. The little Honda could go anywhere in the US and break the speed limit getting there.
(That said, I was about 40 lbs lighter back then, and in Texas there is about a 50% chance of having a pretty stiff tailwind.)
