Oil Drain Plug stripped

Hi, I have a 71 sportster and like an idiot, forgot to turn the gas off. 5 hours later...well, i´m sure you already know.

Anyway, to make a story I´d like to forget short, I found that the bolt to drain the gas was chewed up as though someone had already tried to take it off before. SO I tried everything short of drilling it out and could not get that thing off. And it´s made of a soft metal (copper...I think) so it´s easy to see how it got so beat up.

Now I don´t know what to do to get the gas polluted oil out of the bike so I can get fresh stuff back in and get riding. I´m afraid that she may explode from the fumes inside if I try to fire her up.

My pops (long time biker/auto repair man/marine tank mechanic) suggested I just take off the tranny cover and let the oil drain and then drain the oil bag. But an old school bike mechanic said that this doesn´t completely drain the bike properly and that bolt needs to come off.

Any suggestions or words of wisdom are very welcome.
