In 1971 a purchased a new 500 H1. My previous bike was a Honda CL175, so this was a big step up in power. I didn´t think the H1 was much off the line, but when you got to about 5000 rpm, it went totally nuts with speed. Being only 18 when I owned this bike, I don´t how I survived without getting killed on it. It was so fast, even by today´s standards. Today I have a BMW 1200LT, and althought the BMW is powerful and fast, I feel confident that the H1 would take it in the quarter mile. I recently saw an 1971 H1 on ebay that appeared to be in great condition and I have been tempted to bid for the bike. The only negative thing about my H1 was it seemed to foul the center spark plug with some frequency. The H1 would turn heads it´s unique sound when you opened it up.
