Many people have different names for different appearing pipes. I think I know what you refer to as ´cigar´ mufflers & Meridan did use some extra parts from other years just to get rid of them but I don´t think any of those made the 71 model year. More likely that people with the 71 desiring to get appearance of 68 & 69 model put on aftermarket pipes. You´ll find most of the ´experts´ hanging around at Triumphrat.net.
