So, a Norton. Classic bike for bad or worse. Always a bit more expensive than the other similar British bikes of the time. A true icon of its era, arguably the first "superbike", fast furious and full of personality. After the featherbed framed machines the best handler and vibrations almost gone, thanks to the "isolastic" engine and swingarm mountings. A superb bike to drive, torque, wide powerband and, within limits, comfort. Leaks oil, needs frequent adjustments, can go like a scalded cat, but don´t overdo it, or something will fall off, shake loose or brake. But why would you? line the bike up, give it stick through the corners and just listen to the glorious sound of a British twin winding its way up the revs. There is little point in shifting gears, the delivery of power is flowing, and the lack of vibrations uncanny. Mind you, the engine still shakes like a compactor, you just don´t feel it. If you don´t like tinkering, fiddling, changing don´t ever get a baby, or a Norton. A Norton must be pampered, looked after and nursed. If you don´t enjoy this as well as riding a superb motorcycle, don´t go Norton. If you do, go for a Norton and a friend for life, I love it.
