VS 800 suzuki -- Battery voltage ???

I checked the battery voltage its running at 13.78 volts is this normal . Last year my battery run dry at the cell closest to the negative terminal and the terminal coroded . Bought a new battery trying to avoided it happening again . Any thoughts ??
