I´ve had an 06` tank vision R1 since around oct of 06. i´ve rode it just about every day i could that there wasnt snow on the ground, and even went to work on one of those days on a bad weather report. I´ve got close to 5k miles on it, and get anywere from 85-100 mpg on a 75 mile per day commute. Problems i´ve had: several bolts have rattled lose the thermal switch blew out of the radiator 3 of 8 hose clamps werent tightened from the factory, and began seeping coolant and since the thermal switch blew out, i´ve had consistant over heating problems. (some of which were in 30 degree F weather). To somewhat bypass the thermal switch problem, i wire nutted the leads together so the fans are on all the time, i will probly need to instal a manual switch to turn the fans on/off and solve my over heating problems. about the only time it overheats is when i push it a 55-60 mph for 5-10 miles, so i am assuming the fans are restricting the flow across the radiator since they spin at a slower speed than the air that is rushing across them. Hopefully that will fix it. My recomendatoins if you are considering buying a Tank: Make sure you got a service dealer somewhere close to you, or can get parts shiped to you, and you know how to install them. When you recive your bike, go over it top to bottom checking bolts for tightness. and check them again with each service. This bike has a fair amount of vibration that will work all the bolts lose eventually. I would not recomend this bike for long commutes at 55-60mph. It would be a great bike for city/town driving where you wont be sustaining a 55mph speed for any length of time. This is also a pretty good starter bike, low center of gravity (easier to balance), light weight, forgiving clutch and small engine so you wont get over your head. Before purchasing this bike, i would recomend looking at the other 250cc bikes out there. |
