I have not timed my V-Strom on a quarter mile track or even come close to exploring its top end, but I can give you my seat-of-the-pants experience. At speeds exceeding 110 mph wind buffeting becomes extreme with the stock wind shield. The bike was willing to keep accelerating, I wasn´t. I suspect a taller, wider windshield would reduce this. Acceleration is scary fast. With the throttle wide open I can feel my butt start to slip over the seat step in any gear. Even at partial throttle, passing other vehicles makes them look like they are braking, although I doubt they even know I am there until I pass. The V-Strom is a high performance road bike, but be aware 2/3 of the weight is on the rear wheel. This has made me afraid of wind. Cross winds feel like they can blow the front wheel out from under me. Head winds at high speed have caused the front wheel to flutter. There is more to going fast than power. V-Strom has the power, but not the balance. I recommend you keep shopping.
