My city mileage is about the same early in break-in, maybe a bit better; as this is a big 4-stroke twin, I would expect mileage to improve over time, especially after the first 1000 miles or so. My experience is that this engine type (torque-oriented, relatively large displacement per cylinder) needs to wear in and loosen up before it hits its best mileage. My expectation is about a 10-15% improvement in the city; this would lead to something on the order of 45 mpg (U.S. gallons). I would also expect to see something like 48-55 mpg highway (+-60 mpg imperial) after break-in. Just remember -- 3.8 litres to a U.S. gallon, 4.5 litres to an Imperial gallon, 1.25 U.S. gallons to an Imperial gallon, and just donĀ“t get into quarts, cups, etc.! BTW, the prices quoted for the accessories are the same I got in Edmonton, but the dealer cut off 20% when I ordered all of them. I expect to see them on April 19th -- will let you know. |
