These assertions may have been true regarding the 2004 (and prior) model years. However, Diamo/LS-Motorsports seems to be very responsive regarding these sorts of issues and has improved the quality of the bike. This is especially true when comparing the 2004 to 2005 model year. For example, the 2004 had an annoying quirk where you had to start the Velux with the ignition turned all the way to the right and then after the engine started, you had to turn the ignition switch back one position (to the left). If you left the ignition in the right-most position the blinkers would not work! Even worse, if you left the ignition switch in the right-most position the bike´s electical equipment ran on battery power only, so you´d end up draining it. In the 2005 this "feature" was eliminated. Also, the battery was very difficult to access in the 2004 model. The 2005 introduced an access panel for accessing the battery. I haven´t noticed any quality issues with my 2004 Velux. My only frustration (so far) has been figuring out the bike´s quirks. In fact I ended up starting an owner´s forum to help answer these sorts of questions. |
