Diamo Velux Review

I bought my Diamo Velux a week ago yesterday, it has 400+miles on it now. I have really enjoyed the first week with the bike. I purchased it from Scooter Gallery of Seattle for $4300 including tax, licencing, and setup/shipping fees. The bike comes with a one year warranty and one year free gas ($200 gas card).
Acceleration: The bike accelerates very well up to 50mph and then takes a good distance to get up to 65mph. The bike can maintain 65mph on a straight flat road (with the roof on 5 miles slower with roof off), the slightest up hill and it begins to lose speed. Steep hills the bike will do 35-40mph easily.
Effectiveness of roof: I rode the bike in the pouring Seattle rain for one hour ride to work and found that the roof was very effective. I only got wet on my elbos up to my shoulders and on my left shin from passing cars water spray. I discovered that the wiper blade that came with the bike was leaving marks on the windshield so I have replaced that with another and found a windshield coating that works like RainX but is safe on polycarbonates.
Brakes: The brakes seem very adequate but need to be used with both front and rear brakes together as if only one is used the tire can skid. Mechanical Anti-lock brake systems seem to be not as effective as a eletronic systems, because you can still lock up a wheel, although if both front and rear are used together it is very hard to ever lock up the wheels.
Comfort: I found the seat to be slanted downward too much which causes me to slide forward as I ride. I did adjust it as much as possible upward in the front to help with this issue. I also found that the seat can be a bit stiff to the point that long trips (over an hour) can leave you with a numb butt. This may soften over time.
Overall: I am very pleased with this bike so far and enjoy riding it each day, even in the rain. The display on the stereo already failed but the dealership is ordering a replacment. With good maintainence this bike should be a great commuter scooter for many years.
