Another electronic problem

My step dad is in the process of putting back together his 1987 Softail custom Harley and he just found a big problem. He was working on the electronics when all of the sudden something popped and all the lights went out and everything, he said he did press the start button but doesnt know what else happened beyond that, does anyone know what would be the problem/how to fix this? Could it just be a fuse? If so, where is the fuse box for it? We also cannot get power to anything please help anyone!
