New Z-1 Classic owner--fuel problem

I just purchased a 1980 KZ-1000 Classic fuel injected bike which has sat for the last 5 years. I replaced the battery, the fuel lines and the fuel filter. When I turn the key on the fuel pump will run and fuel starts to drip under the bike. If I try to start it normally it starts but is flooding out badly. After talking to the PO I plan to check the flapper door in the air flow meter box tonight to make sure it is closing and moving freely. I will also replace the vacuum line for the fuel regulator as well. Is there a simple way to check the fuel regulator?
