When the Z1R was introduced in 1978, the fastest thing on the road was the Kaw 750 2-stroke. I pulled away from one the first week I got my Z1R. I raced every kind of bike and car for a couple of years without a loss. The summer of 1980 a GS1100 showed me a loss. I still have a Z1R today, having bought and sold several over the years. Mine now is a mix of the 78 and 80 models. The best of the mix. I built a engine and beat that Suzuki that handed me my first loss btw, the high speed wobble got me and I pulled that engine and it is still sitting in my garage. Kawasaki made us gods in our own right back in the day. Now the ZX-14 has ruled the streets and this year the Super charged 1000 looks to take that over. KAWASAKI RULES.
