I’m the 4th owner of this 32-year old ride with 24,044 original miles and have all the history [having sat 20-years during a divorce settlement with owner #2]. Anyway; I have restored this to the way it sat on the showroom in 1982 and everything works…. Except one thing that has been kicking my half-moons. The automatic turn signal cancellation feature with this bike. I went on line and found two (2) control modules for this…. no luck. Then? Thinking it may be the contacts on the left handle bar turn signal control button itself, I bought a new one for almost $250. I installed it, took the bike out and? BINGO! Fixed! Worked like a charm [note I didn’t say ‘works’…. Rather ‘worked’].

I’d say after no less than 500 miles, during a rain storm, racing to get back home, while coming off the interstate, it went on, but didn’t ‘auto’ cancel to off. It has been that way for over a year now as I struggle to find the why behind that.

For you smart folks out there; my speedo works and tracks both overall miles and the trip odometer works too that from the Tech Manual, is part of this ‘circuitry’ as best I can tell, feeding into this control unit that is suppose to cancel. BOTH turn signals work, come on manually and blink, but I have to manually switch them back off or I’m like the old man on the interstate with a blinker left on.

Any insights, similar experience or suggestions and feedback is needed and I would greatly appreciate. Once this is resolved, everything will be working on this 32-year old puppy. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and if you are in the area, attending the Springfield Mile Motorcycle races tomorrow, look me up and I’ll buy you a beer. Happy Memorial Day everyone. Bob….
