| So,your gonna run a shovel???? Well,take this advice,when your bike start leaking oil thru the rocker boxes and any other nook and cranny,before you start ripping the whole thing down,replacing the gaskets,only to find out it still leaks like a siv.....run some flush thru the engine,because you probably have a blocked oil return hole in the lower half of the jugs,or if you have a oil cooler,it may be blocked with sludge,blow some air thru it and open it back up...raising the oil pressure with something blocked like that will cause major oil leakage,right thru new gaskets.......another helpful hint,if you have no background on your bike and don´t know who did what,spend $70 and put a new wiring harness on it...this is the root of most shovel problems,starters,relays,ignition...lots of problems if you are still running 28 year old wiring...these bikes can be very dependable if they are not screwed up in any way..........last helpful hint,if you are planning on running a 21 inch front wheel,the 3 inch lowrider type speedo will not work,you need the larger flh type speedo,reason is the 3 inch is only made in a 1-1,or 2-1 ration...which the 1-1 will work for tranny drive,bot off the front wheel,you need a 2240:60 ration speedo and it is not made in a 3 inch speedo...Custom Chrome has a very nice smaller dash if you do not want to change or look at that big ignition switch......I welcome all shovel emails,lease send direct to irideharleys@webtv.net thank you,and ride safe,Mark |
