Extended ZX6R hard to balance

I recently got a 98 zx6r as my first sport bike, it is extended and lowered. I know extending the bike makes it hard to turn, but its over all very different than any other extended bike ive ridden. It is hard to balance the bike and it kills my hands going under 35, would that also be because of the extension, or is it because the bike itself is so heavy?
