I have a 2008 jet 50 hammerhead on road, and i thought i would share some upgrades i did to the moped. First i race every weekend ( yes it is legal i have to pay 25 dollars to enter but if you win the purse is 1500 to 2500 dollars) so i do all my own mods except for ones i can not do. I will start off buy telling you that with a few thins that i did this moped it does 61 to 67 mph without a bore kit just the 49cc engine. First i got a racing pipe 2 inches to match my sliders weights 8gram i use both sliders and roller weights, racing clutch, racing variator, upgraded my stock carburetor to a 90cc with just jetting. I have a high performance CDI 8900 RPM, racing spark plug, i use 124 racing fuel or airplane fuel, not all the time just when i race. when i do not use it it still goes 59 to 61. I have not changed any internal parts or added gearing etc. This is what i got out of the Jet 50 Hammerhead with these upgrades, i am adding this weekend a milled head to increase compression and horsepower, should be able to go almost 70 with this block with the milled head. I know you think i am nuts well the next race i will have taped and i will put a camera on my Jet 50 to prove it. Ya i love to build muscle cars and i a moped gear head and love to get the most you can get out of the 49cc engine. This winter i am going to upgrade it with a big bore kit 90cc because i love the way i made the Jet 50 look and i have to much invested into it to just buy a bigger bike and move into a different class. I will have to move up to modified class when i put in the bore kit. And yes i do drive it almost every day on the street, i does not however get the gas mileage that a stoke Jet 50 would. I go through a tank of premium i about 2 days and get about 50 miles to a tank. Still good for around town. Thanks for reading, Spence |
