I bought mine in 1980, new. Never, absolutely never, has ceased running sweetly up&down the destroyer traffic in Barcelona. After 88000 kms. made (near exclusively inside town)she got rusted to the bone, sweating some oil but going like always. Without a damn trouble: 4 or 5 rear tyres, 2 front, 3 chains, ONE spark plug and a wealthy galloon of Harley SAE-60 oil every year. Last year, some rotten punks -squaters- stolen my completely rotten mule (yes, yes, she was overnighting without antithef: Who the muck coulda think in this thing for steal, uh?). I cried for days. Then, amazingly, incredibly, some policeman called home asking for my presence to recover my beloved ol´ thumper. Now, after 3000 € and two months of work, she goes dazzling and musically again. It´s really a beautiful motorcycle - when restored to original specs. I also own two Harleys and a resplendent & fast Chief 1947, but to ride the Sanglas after a day or more onto a Harley is hard to explain. Sweeter than a melon, yes. |
