Overheating SLR 650

I think my SLR is overheating, it has recently been serviced but after about 30 minutes riding through town it starts to run roughly, the gearchange becomes very chunky, it cuts out at low revs, the idle is rough. When driving it feels like the chain is really slack but it is in good condition. The bike has a very low mileage and is in good condition overall. Has anyone any ideas? Email me if you have any advice, all gratefully received
