I have a 2000 Gilera Coguar. It was running perfectly until last week. Last week it started to cut out. I wass riding the bike on the motorway, at 65mph for about 10 minutes. Suddenly the engine cut out. After pulling over, stopping, applying partial choke, it started again and I drove off.

It now does this occassionally. When it cuts out the engine just stops. After pulling over, and starting with choke on, I can drive off again.

I have now discovered that dropping into 1st or 2nd, I can drop the clutch and restart the engine; and ussually drive off.

Any ideas?

I have looked and cant find anything obvious wrong.

2 days before this started I ran out of petrol, and had to switch to the reserve for 10 miles.

I have also noticed, that on the left side of the bike, there is a removable cover; under this cover is a rubber tube that comes out from under the seat and attaches to a cylinder a little further forward. This tube is shredded. What is it for?

Thanks in advance.
