I have American 80 spoke wheels on my bike. One of the spokes broke at the hub. I called American and they want me to purchase a complete set of spokes to repair the wheel. I contacted Frame Straight, Friendsville, TN and they will get a new spoke manufactured, replace it and true the wheel for about $100. I have 3 questions; 1. Is it OK to remove the spoke from the wheel? 2. Can I ride the bike with the broken spoke removed and 3. What are the process steps to remove the wheel for shipping it to the repair shop?
