I am like you, I have a 2001 Scout. Unless you have the indian motor, any harley part will fit your motor. The belt system for the primary drive is a primo belt system, you can find online with sites like jpcycles or dennis kirk, even ebay is a great site for parts. Brake pads can be ordered, you just have to be careful they have two or three pads that are the same size just different thickness, I found out the hard way. Best advice is keep a note book of part# when you order and get it right. That way you can jut order it next time. I had my speedodmeter drive on the whell go out. I used a part from a harley sportster to fix mine for $20.00 verus $80 if you can find one...Just look around and you can find what you need.
Truett and Osborne in Wichita Kansas can help you out alot. These guys know the bike very well I use them.
