I just purchased a 2007 Vespa LX-50 4T from the original owner who passed away several years ago. Allegedly it was serviced last year and was last started/ridden Feb 2013. It has 374 miles on odometer. When I got the scooter it would barely start, and then idle roughly with throttle almost wide open, and then stall. I got it cheap. I changed the gas. The tank has no rust, and fuel flows briskly when vacuum is applied to the fuel vacuum valve. The battery is fully charges, and it turns over quickly. The air filter is pristine. I replaced the engine oil which was honey-colored and not contaminated. I removed, disassembled and soaked the carb. All ports, jets are clean, the diaphragms are supple and have no holes. The float moves freely. I replaced the spark plug and verified that it produces a bright blue spark. I put it all back - no change. I removed the exhaust in case there was an obstruction. No change. I checked the function and connection of the choke - all good. I removed and disassembled the carb again - no change. I replaced the plug again - no fouling. No change. I canĀ“t find any mix screws to adjust. I am out of ideas. Any thoughts? |
