The 916 SPS 1998 has a 996 motor in it, i have one no 1073 stamped on the front fork brace.I would recomend this bike, here in South Africa we are 2200 meeters above sea level and it still kicks a R1 and Fire Blads ass,It is rated by most as the most beutifull looking bike in the world,it looks like the new 1098 and let any body tell me i am wrong. Enjoy
