Not sure if you solved your inner primary trouble. I have a ´79
FL and a ´85FXSB I know all the mounting bolts are the same to motor
and tranny. There is one extra bolt on the outer cover on the bottom under the clutch on the ´85. The difference is in the
starter. I put a shovel outer primary on the 85 inner primary,
it bolted up except for the starter bearing boss in the outer primary. I machined the boss shorter and reinstalled the bearing.
My wife´s been running it for years.
