The bike is refered to as the Type 482 CZ 175 trail. (The Type 481 was the CZ 125 trail version). The gear box is stamped 482 instead of the usual 477 on the roadster CZ 175 bike. This is because has different 2nd and 3rd ratios. Top speed was 71 MPH restricted and 85 to 87 MPH unrestricted. Engine restriction is by the usual metal pipe in the airbox plenum chamber. Engine is derived from a 1965 175 motorcross engine and removing the restrictor pushes the power back up to the original 19.9 BHP @ 7,000 RPM. Other mods are the removal of the first collar inside the silencer end cap. Bike can ford up to saddle base height!! Despite tyres the bike handles better than most road bikes and certainly better than normal trailies. Only CZ to fetch silly money usually from trail iders who´ve probally had one before in the past and remember the indestructability on the things. Andy. |
