| Keith, sorry to hear your woes. This bike is the sum of it´s parts Suzuki Freewind engine, Fritz Egli frame, Grimeca brakes, Lafranconi exhaust and I guess the East german ex shot putters putting it together will get it wrong occasionally not unlike the Italians making bikes with equipment sourced from these companies in the 70´s and 80´s. I don´t use my bike for anything but pleasure runs so it really hasn´t seen rain, is pampered and loved and (so far) has been reliable. It appealed to me for three reasons 1) I had a tight budget (£3k including bike, insurance, new boots and helmet), 2) I didn´t want a bike everyone else had and this 650 is rarer than fivers in my wallet and you have to read the foreign press to get a good write up of it depressing its second hand value in Blighty (good for me and anyone thinking of buying one but bad for you Keith especially as the local toerags didn´t want it :( 3) most of the bikes I loved in my youth were singles (see 2002 comments)and I have no desire to ride around at high speed just enjoy using its fine roadholding (actually that´s 4 points then :0) |
