| I have just recently bought one new in the city of Cape Town in South Africa. Here KYMCO is a known brand and has a good reputation especially for its automatic scooters which seem to be a hit with young people, students and business/pleasure yuppies who want to get around without traffic or parking problems. I decided to get the ACIV 110 for a strange reason. I like gears because it gives me some measure of control. Perhaps I was wrong and should have gotten one of the automatic models but these are about $800 more expensive. I got my bike at a recognized KYMCO dealer and its the best recommended way tto get one because of the support and warrantees. I have been driving a little and need more time to get used to the machine. It seems to have a very good motor/engine. The gear is a little awkward for me but maybe I´ll get used to it. I can´t get used to changing down from 4-3-2-2. Going up is much easier. It´s just not comfortable to go down a gear. The design is a little awkeard as well, even a little ugly in my oppinion. So why dd I get this bike. For the relatively fair price although it could have been at least $3-400 cheaper as the Honda CGR 125 is an excellent competitor and is almost the same price. Why didn´t I get the Honda? well because it´s 3-4 hundred dollars more expensive and looks a little bigger and heavier and that frightened me a little, because I am a skinny guy and don´t fancy lifting up a Honda that has fallen to the ground (yes it happens! to all of us once in a while.) The other reason I stuck with the Activ 110 is because all I need is some cheap transport from my appartment to my work and it´s only a 10-15 minutes drive - so getting an expensive highway bike would be a waste of my money. The Active takes a bit of getting used to. Sometimes it feels as if I´m working the engine to hard but apparently you should! So it´s OK to be on 3rd gear and going 30-50 km. Apparently that´s normal and you only need to up to 4th around 60-70 kms. Let me know what you think |
