Hi everyone, hope u all riding fine and safe on the road. Nice to be part of this GV650 forum. I’m a daily rider. Last week while returning home, after starting the ignition button ON, rode a few feet and my bike engine cut off abruptly. This happened thrice again consequently but managed to a petrol pump not far off & she stalled again. I topped the tank there and tried to start her up, she refused to start. I had to TOW my bike back home. Synopsis: My bike is a new GV650 model purchased in Oct08 in Adelaide SA (Peter Stevens) and serviced her regularly (thrice so far there). Mostly I always used 98 high-octane unleaded fuel. So far done around 10.5 thousand K only. I bought the bike new in Oct 08 and got the model with the black frame and black mags not with the chrome ones and its neither the very latest one out. Later that night I mange to jump start her battery and the bike’s engine came back on, she was purring well. But the immediate next day again she wouldn’t crank up the engine to life. Towed my bike, to my bike showroom Peter Steven Shop. The mechanic diagnosed it and next day told me that the COIL had to be replaced; thankfully I still have a couple of months left for my Wrranty to expire, so they covered me for that part. It took Peter Stevens 6 days just to get that part from interstate Melbourne (750kms away). Finally after getting the coil and installed it in, she yet doesn’t start . Mechanic now claims that the INTAKE MANIFOLD needs to be replaced which again thanks to Warranty. But they have to get this part from Melbourne too, which might take another week. I’m handicapped without her. Any tips on what´s this, & how INTAKE MANIFOLD and the COIL get wrecked, would be much appreciated. Suggestion/tips on maintenance would help us all. I’m not that technical with bikes. Im worried on Peter Stevens SERVICE bill! Cheers, Hef. |
