Hi my name is Gregg. I have been riding a Kawazaki ER5 for the last 5 years, it was stolen last month so I am looking for a replacement. Having just come from viewing the cometr 650 in the showroom I would say that overall I liked the look of the bike but there were a few areas where I think improvement could be made. Firstly the exhaust pipe casing is finished in a matt grey to match the frame. I would prefer to see a chrome exhaust as they have on the 250 version. Secondly the radiator juts out to either side of the engine and does spoil the lines of the bike. I am not a particularly big bloke (5ยด7") but I felt the height was just about managable. I had to lean a bit further forward than I am used to but it still felt comfortable. The pillion seat is much higher than on my old ER5 which I and my other half who normally occupies this position found appealing although the lack of a grab rail did put her off a bit. I was told that this is something that the manufacturer is addressing. Unfortunatly the bike was not ready to ride but I will be going back in a week or two to give it a test drive so if anyone is interested I will let you know how it goes. I have made a few enquries regarding insurance. The best quote by quite a way was from Norwich Union which was around the same price as my old ER5. Given the price difference to other bikes of this type and size I am certainly giving some serious thought to purchasing this bike. The test drive will no doubt make my mind up one way or the other. |
