no, gasgas started using the minarelli AM6 engine 04 and forward. Before 04 gasgas is equiped with a much better engine, in my opinion at least, a franco morini engine. I don´t think its that hard to find engine parts to my gasgas -03, i just go to my bike-part-dealer and ask if they can order in or if they have that part im looking for. hope this helped
