Comparing to the 400 EXC, the KTM 400 SXC is much more durable and reliable. The SXC-type is designed for racing/touring, and can handle long distances better than the EXC.
But if you ride enduro´s for winning, you can better choose the EXC for the extra power yoo need to win.
An other good alternative is the 2003 KTM 625 SCX. This machine might weigh more then the EXC types, but can absolutely come along with other enduro bikes.
