I have just bought an KTM SXC 625 2006 model. Only 120 kms on the clock so far, but Im already impressed. Having had very little off road experience, other than a couple of smaller trail bikes and a Yammy TY 175 trials bike in my 30´s, Im now 57 and want to spend some of the kids inheritance and get some excitement before I fall of my perch...but I dont want to wipe myself out...so Im happy to talk to anyone who is in a similar situation...or anyone who has off road bike touring experiences. My intention is to do some desert trips, a Simpson crossing, either short or long duration, maybe a trip to Cape York. All this will hopefully happen after I get some practice in. I live in N.E. Victoria and have miles and miles of mountain trails right within 200 mtrs of my door. Also anyone who can suggest how to deck out the bike for touring...extra fuel, carry racks, lightweight camping gear, food, etc. really any usefull info or tips that have been tried and tested would be very welcome.
