hi carlos,i´m guessing that youre in the states and since i´m not i cant really advise you on price, however here is the technical guide. All dukeII ´s are technically much the same apart from some small detail changes,so their is no one year that is better than another. Engines are very robust providing they have been serviced by someone who knows what they are doing.Big end bearing will fail if the oil change procedure is not carefully adhered to.Starter mechs on some ´99 and 2000 models were faulty due to incorrect assembly at the factory but these would have almost certainly been rectified by now.whilst these engines are not the quietist when warm they should be very quiet running when first started,if not run away. sarting should be very easy either on the button or kicking. All euro models are fitted with the mikuni bst 40 carb which is fine with the one common problem of seizing low speed mixture screw. I dont know if any us models still have that hideous quicksilver thing but i hope not! chassis wise not much to be worried about there, alloy chain guards fracture for a hobby!and tail lamp mounts are fragile, silencer internals will come loose on higher mileage examples as will all their mounts.Electrics are generally very good and much better than on earlier dukes.Epc system will inhibit preformance in the first two gears and can fail causing huge running problems, but this is easy to remove and hopefully will have already been done by a former owner if buying a used one. There are plenty of tuning parts available and bolt goodies in carbon and titanium etc. I could go on for ever but that should get you going. |
