I have had one for a couple of years and 9,000 miles on nothing mechanically untoward has happened. In basic maintenance etc. you`ll need a special tool to get the oil filter off, chain tension is very easy. Have to take the tank off to change the plugs. If you are into DIY in a big way, then there is an official Kawasaki Service Manual. I had to go to the States for an English language version. It is Part No.99924-1245-05.
Keep the rubber on the road. DOT.
