I really appreciate your comments. Last February I was riding my Dakar south of Chile way up in the Andes and I broke my rear suspension!! The road was rough but not bad enough to break down a "Dakar"... BMW argued that it was a one-in-a-million failure and their service responded 100% (great customer service by the way!). Though, I lost all confidence on this bike reliability for long isolated trips. It is only psychological, but very important when it comes to long and rough rides. When I compare both bikes (actually I parked them both side by side to compare them) the KTM´s parts and details look much better in terms of strength and quality, though there is this phantom-rumor about KTM being too delicate and not a very reliable machine... plus the fact that most of the reviews on Internet don’t help the 640 Adv too much... I guess I´ll have to take the risk… Any further thoughts are very welcome. Many thanks. Best regards, Longfellow |
